French starlet Gael Kakuta was delighted to have made his Chelsea first-team debut in the 4-0 weekend victory at home to Wolves. The 19-year-old has become famous for joining the Blues from Lens in a move which could yet see both himself and the club handed hefty punishments by FIFA.
However, Kakuta is clear to play for the immediate future and is determined to make the most of the opportunity.
He told the Evening Standard: "I have been out because of the ban, so I have been working hard every day in training doing double sessions and I feel good.
"It has felt a bit like doing pre-season. When the boys have finished training I have still been working in the afternoon.
"I've been waiting a long time to make my debut and I am really happy to have done it. I wasn't nervous at all. Whenever I play I just try to do my best.
"It is easier than in the reserves because the game is much quicker, you have more choice when you play and you can play one-touch or two-touch. So it is much better.
"I was waiting a long time for Saturday and I am really happy. All of the players were behind me, helping me and talking to me, so that was good."
